Travel Tips

  • 1. backpacker - $30-$70

    2. comfortable $70-$100

    3. luxury $200+

  • The quality of the transport infrastructure is generally good: ferries are reliable, buses are remarkably comfortable and efficient, flights are cheap, and driving is made easier by the modern and well-maintained road network. Trains connect major towns but the network is designed more for residents than tourists who will rarely find it convenient to use the railway.

  • The best time to visit Croatia is during the summer months, from June to September, when sunlight is plentiful and temperatures are warm, between 66°F and 86°F. These conditions are ideal for boating and swimming in the blue waters around the islands.

The cooler conditions of April, May and October lend themselves to a wide range of other outdoor activities, from hiking to kayaking.

  • Crime in Croatia is relatively low, and pickpocketing is less common compared to other European countries. However, travelers can be an easy target for petty theft in Croatia. Keep your belongings close to you and avoid carrying large sums of cash.

  • Croatia has a wide range of different accommodations for people with different budgets. Croatia accommodation is never going to be CHEAP, but going the Airbnb or hostel route is probably the best budget option in a town like Split or Dubrovnik.

  • Standard Croatian is the official language of the Republic of Croatia and, along with Standard Bosnian and Standard Serbian, one of three official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also official in the regions of Burgenland (Austria), Molise (Italy) and Vojvodina (Serbia). There are frequent foreign languages spoken in Croatia that make up the minority in the country as well. These include Serbian, English, Czech, Italian, German, Hungarian, Slovak, and Romani.

  • Airbnb, Agoda and booking.com are great options for finding accommodation, as well as flights.

  • Odds are, you’re going to croatia for the incredible blue waters, the islands and site seeing so you’re going to need to pack breathable clothing, swimwear, reef safe sunscreen, hats, walking shoes etc. You’ll also need a power adaptor plug: we always recommend a universal one.

  • Traditional Croatian food has some similarities with Italian, Austrian, Hungarian, and Turkish food although food can vary between the regions in Croatia. You’ll be eating lots of seafood, fresh meats, wine, risotto, pastas and gnocchi and the food is relatively in expensive compared to other countries in Europe.
