    2. comfortable $120-200

    3. luxury $250+

  • Car hire - You can hire a car in Greece and most roads are pretty good, just make sure you have an international license. However, if you’re island hopping, we probably wouldn't suggest hiring a car.

Scooter - This is our favorite way of traveling around the Greek islands, it’s easy, it’s quick, it’s affordable and it’s fun! You can find a scooter rental company on every island.

Bus - There are buses from Athens to almost all towns in Greece. There are also regional bus stations that connect large towns with local villages https://www.greeka.com/greece-travel/buses/

Ferry - all the above islands are connected via an awesome ferry system that you can book through Ferryhopper. Together with riding scooters, these were our two main modes of transport.

  • The best time to visit Greece is in the late spring and summer months: May-September. This is when the weather is ideal, the sun is shining, skies are blue and all the venues are open for visitors. However, this is also the peak tourist season.

Apr-Jun has great weather with less crowds, but make sure to avoid Easter week when planning your trip.

  • Always be vigilant and aware of your belongings in crowded areas.

Keep a copy of your passport with you at all times in case your belongings are stolen or lost.

Sexual assault crimes do happen in Greece - don’t allow strangers to buy or carry your drink for you, and never leave your drink unattended.

Don’t walk alone at night as a woman.

It’s very common for cab drivers to take advantage of tourists and hike their rates. To avoid this, negotiate your fare beforehand.

Make sure you have an International license and a copy of your US license to be able to drive in Greece.
