Take a virtual vacation with us to mexico

The birthplace of tacos and tequila, you’ll definitely want to plan a trip to Mexico soon!

Travel Tips

  • 1. backpacker - $45-75

    2. comfortable $85-200

    3. luxury $300+

  • Generally, we either hire a car or a scooter depending on where we are in Mexico.

However, if you’re on a tight budget, there are alternatives:

    Buses (super affordable): www.etn.com.mx

Uber/taxis are abundant and everywhere, and super affordable too.

Some cities have subways as well, ask a local (or your hotel staff) to help you navigate those.

  • When it comes to climate, Mexico is just as diverse as the United States, so check specifically in your destination. It could be snowing in Mexico City (because at elevation), while the beaches of Cancun are packed.

If you’re headed to the Yucatan Peninsula, like Tulum, double check the sargaso (seaweed) in the area, this can be very dense at certain times of year and potentially ruin your beach dreams!

Heading to Mexico for Spring Break? Double check Easter week, as Semana Santa is the absolute most crowded time of year in vacation destinations as all Mexicans flee the cities for vacation.

  • Petty crimes occur in all parts of Mexico. However, some parts are more dangerous to visit than others. Visit this website for regular updates: travel.state.gov

Don’t go out at night alone.

Keep your belongings close to you at all times in public spaces and in all types of transportation.

Don’t be flashy with your belongings, jewelry, cameras, cellphones etc.

If you’re an extremely cautious traveller, consider staying at all-inclusive resorts and hotels.

Do not drink any water unless you know it’s been purified, the same goes for ice. Also, avoid eating any raw vegetables and fruits potentially washed in tap water.

  • Airbnb and Booking.com are the best sites to book accommodation. Booking.com or Agoda are the best sites to book all-inclusive hotels and resorts (which we suggest you do if it’s your first time traveling to Mexico).

  • While Mayan and some other indigenous languages are spoken throughout the country Spanish, of course, is the official language.

From a hotel waiter in Cozumel to the Uber driver in Mexico City, to a street vendor selling corn in Guadalajara, you will run into a variety of English-speaking skill sets.

One thing is always consistent: you are in Mexico. If all you can get out is “hola” that’s still a heck of a lot better that walking up and saying “hi”.

  • Drinking the water! Be very very careful with anything that even touches water like limes in your drink and especially fresh salads and vegetables.

This advice may seem outdated but unfortunately we still have gotten a stomach bug almost every trip to Mexico over the past 10 years.
